Children

I have been busy! Just not busy updating :(

Lately I've been doing lots of children's portraits. It's kind of fun :D With kids, you have to be patient. And willing to act a little goofy sometimes.

Restorations

Yeah, I do them. Occasionally. Because my background is in illustration, I can sometimes do things that other people can't. Sometimes.

I have several things I intend to post later, but in the meantime, I've been assisting at other weddings for the talented Lisa Walker. And sometimes not only do I get to photograph weddings, but I also get to perform other important functions: http://lisawalkerphotography.smugmug.com (this particular photograph was taken by the officiant).

Many of the wedding images on the Smug Mug site (not her official site) were taken by me. Working with Lisa is a lot of fun!

Studio Lighting Workshop

I attended a studio lighting workshop over the weekend. I was a bit under the weather, so they aren't my most creative efforts, but it was still a lot of fun!

Okay hi, yes, it's been a while since I've updated this thing...

Anyway, this was a wedding I shot for my friends Zane and Julie some time last year. I was extremely nervous about this one, because this was the first time I had shot a wedding using nothing but digital. I was very flattered to be asked to shoot this in the first place, because Zane is an extremely talented photographer himself.

Photo books

Posted on 5/19/07 at 06:47 pm
This is still mostly in the planning stages, but I will eventually be able to offer books. I spoke to a bookbinder in town (yay local business!), and she can make books with many custom features; choice of cover material in lots of colors, foil imprinting on the spine, page markers, etc. These are library-bound books, like encyclopedias or really old school text books. I recently purchased a printer that can print images that are archival up to 200 years (when kept in a book or album), and this will be used to print the pages.

Hopefully soon I will have a sample available, which I will photograph and post pictures of so people reading this won't just have to guess at what I'm talking about :/

In the meantime, I have worked out some of the pages that will go in the sample book when it is completed.

This wedding was very small, but nice. The small amount of space actually worked out very well, because it forced me (and my lights!) to work very close to everything. Oh and also there was a bagpipe player!

Pat and Carrie

Carrie was, without a doubt, the happiest, most energetic bride I've worked with thus far. It was a very traditional Catholic wedding, and was also probably the longest wedding I've shot thus far as well. I shot WAY too many images for this one, and it was difficult to narrow the selection down to just the 300 that would fit in the album :/

Ben and Marla

This was more of a "classic" wedding. Marla put a lot of time into all of the little details (she did a lot of the work herself!), so that was where I focused my attention.

Dawn and Cris

I really enjoyed shooting this wedding. While most weddings are simply about the union of two people, it really seemed that Dawn and Cris wanted to include their friends as much as possible. I tried to add a lot of images that would reflect how much fun everyone seemed to be having.
